the $125 per person. On this tour you will learn about Hawaiian history, language, hula, plants and volcanic geology. For the past 40 million years the Hawaiian hot spot has pumped out 82 volcanoes that today form the Hawaiian Islands. The source of this heat lies 50 miles underground. The Big Island has five volcanoes the highest being Mauna Kea at 13,796 feet. Kilauea is the youngest and most active volcano raising to 4093 feet . Kilauea has been erupting for the last 17 years and it's Pu'u O'o vent is the source of the lave flows today. back to top e-mail us
Lava
Flow
Viewing I am not doing lava viewing tours at the present time. As of June 20th the lava is flowing in Volcanoes National Park. It is a mile and a half hike to the flows and it is the best I have ever experienced. You should be staying on the Hilo side of the Island to travel to the flows. You have a seven hour round trip drive if you are staying in Kona. $150 per person We will tour the Park before going to view the flows. Tour lasts from 5-6 hours. Lava photos
